2011 - nominated at "Responsible for future" awards organized by AHK Balticum (German-Baltics Chamber of Commerce).

2001 – www.maps.lt has received an award for being "The Best Lithuanian product 2001" in the field of information technologies and telecommunications at InfoBalt exhibition.
1998 – award for outstanding achievements in the field of GIS at International User Conference in San Diego (USA).

IMPORTANT SOCIAL PROJECTS:

2010 - sponsorship of "Bio-Inspired Signal and Image Processing" workshop organized by IEEE and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
2008 - Maps.lt and the Baltic Environmental Forum (BAF) initiated a voluntary environmental activities called Guarding Earth.
2009 - development of dynamic "Flue map", where sociaty can observe the spread of flue in Lithuania. The project was implemented together with the Ministery of Healtcare.
2001 – HNIT-BALTIC launched the public website www.maps.lt, which was designed for interactive navigation and searching of location on the map of Lithuania, for familiarization with digital maps and geographical databases.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

We spread and share our knowledge with students

Our employees give lectures at Lithuanian universities; supervise students’ theses in the field of IT, Telecommunication, Geography or Geodesy. During the summer the students have internship at our company, learn to apply gained knowledge into practice. The best students are invited to join the company. HNIT-BALTIC has become the first employer for 12 students. We also support Lithuanian universities by establishing Cellular Expert laboratories. We provide free Cellular Expert licenses, help to install and prepare training program and documentation, provide with technical support. The free of charge laboratories are established at Vilnius University, Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

We introduce pupils and teachers with possibilities provided by GIS technology

We have initiated a project which focuses on active cooperation with schools in 2008. The project is still ongoing. The purpose of it is to introduce and promote the use of GIS to as many pupils as possible. For example, the ninth grade pupils from Secondary Vilnius Senvage School have a GIS module. They can try GIS capabilities in practice: solve various tasks, collect and save data, analyze and visualize information in the map. Thus pupils train their critical and spatial thinking.

We celebrate GIS day: we organize educational activities and actively promote others to inform the society about GIS day

GIS day is celebrated on the third Wednesday of November every year. The purpose of this day is to increase the awarness of GIS technologies in society and the use of it in companies. Great attention is also paid for educating children.

We are constant participants and sponsors of conferences, seminars, exhibitions related with cartography, geo-informatics, and telecommunications

HNIT-BALTIC is a member of Lithuanian IT Association “InfoBalt”. Our employees actively participate and discuss relevant geo-informatics, environment, telecommunication and other questions in national and international seminars, conferences, exhibitions. We also supported young scientists by sponsoring workshop "Bio-Inspired Signal and Image Processing" organized by IEEE and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
